Finding Grace before Motherhood

| Infertility Awareness Week | Today's word is well rounded. It holds truth to a quality we as Christian women should strive to carry heavy on our shoulders each day. An attribute that is a daily task. The greatest example of Christ's love for us is shown through His grace. When we are called to be Christ-like, that means filling our souls to overflow with this one word.

This journey is teaching me so much about what it means to have grace for not only others but for yourself. Practice this sort of love shows after an unintentional hurtful comment from the neighbor, asking when you will begin having children. It is something that needs to be in your back pocket for immediate use as your friends send the 3,238th photo of their sweet babe & you are at the brink of tears as the fight against jealousy seems to be overtaking you.

You need to have grace because those are not bad questions & they are not bad text messages. They are beautiful because they carry curiosity for your life & they carry hope for your future. All the same, they are incredibly heart breaking, stomach twisting reminders of the emptiness that fills your womb & your home.

This is where the grace for yourself plays in. As you begin to get heated as these actions burn an envious hole inside you, you are all the more filled with frustration. You LOVE getting those pictures of the cute kiddos. You LOVE when people ask you about your family because you think about that family each & every day. You wrestle with letting the hurt get to you & wondering why there is any hurt feelings to begin with.

Learning to have grace for myself is what started opening my eyes to the love God holds & how I can show that same love through this incredibly difficult journey. Love for others as they mean no harm & love for myself because frankly, I work really hard every day.
