Five Simple Gifts to Give

I love all the fun gift ideas when it comes to spoiling your mail carrier & amazon driver. The treats at the front door during the holidays is such a special way to make them feel as such. They spoil you with service all year long, why not spoil them back. Christmas, however, brings pressure & long, long lists so overwhelm can hit quick. In this blog post I wrote about this overwhelm, my heart for Christmas & what I would like it to look like. In addition I included 5 simple gift ideas so that you can lend a present to more people that have impacted you this year without adding to the craze.

+ the beauty of giving simple gifts during the holidays

+ five ideas you can still implement this year

+ my mindset going into this holiday season & the ones for years to come

Why giving simple gifts for Christmas is the best.

Thoughtfulness usually shines brighter than materialism when it comes to gifts. Even if it something that the person wanted for so long, it still means so much because you remembered that. I have been hearing more & more about how memories are better created than big gifts when it comes to Christmas & I would agree. The list of people we give gifts to is already so long, but there are just so many hearts to warm in this season. Keeping your ideals simple & thoughtful not only brings peace to gift giving but also allows you to send a few more presents on than usual. By this I mean thanking your school bus driver, teachers, postman, amazon driver, nail tech, hair guru, you name it!

Five simple gift ideas you can implement still this year.

Stovetop Potpourri

This one is fun because I already blogged about it for Thanksgiving. Check out that post here. It is so simple to make multiple jars to pass out to all your neighbors, visitors & friends.

Gifting gift wrap

Scrolling through Instagram, this idea popped up from @makingprettymemories. It is so clever! I ran to the dollar store for these wrapping paper rolls, tape & decorative greenery. Tie it together with a gift tag & leave it on your porch for your mail man! The perfect thought for those last minute gifts you need wrapped or to store for the next year.

Greeting Card Kit

Stop by your local gift shop, Target or dollar store & grab a handful of greeting cards. Some birthday, some thank you, some get wells. Put together your collection of cards, store them in a box or wrap it twine. Now you have a gift that keeps on giving! Cards get expensive & honestly are usually easily forgotten about. Having some on hand is never a bad thing & it is fun to see the different ones people pick out!

Mele Kalikimaka Pineapple

This website has so many fun ideas but this one is my favorite : a pineapple! Add a tag that says “Mele Kalikimaka” — the Hawaiian way to say Merry Christmas & call it a day! Fun, festive, simple & yummy!

Reindeer Float

As simple as it sounds. Get a cool cup or mug, also can be found at the dollar store, a small bottle of rooter & a candy cane. Put it all together with a fun tag & you’re done! We used to have Root Beer floats ones a week, we love them! What a simple way to give a fun — usually food friendly if they drink soda — to your service friends.

My mindset going into the holiday season & the ones for years to come.

Christmas looks different for everyone. This year took me a bit more time to get into the giving spirit than usual. Gift giving is not my love language, but acts of service is. Putting a gift together is so much more than the material item it is, its about making it an experience & putting in the extra love & care. Christmas requires many gifts so that means it requires much time. All things I am so willing to do, this year just felt more overwhelming for whatever reason. Once I started, though, all that went away so quickly. I was able to think of thoughtful gifts that meant something to me & what I think will mean something to them. I think we can all agree that the pressures of Christmas are somewhat self put, however, the years of instilling this makes it feel almost inevitable. I am hoping that simplifying everything & bringing more thought into it than dollar amount, both I, as the gift giver & the gift receiver will have a loving & memorable holiday.
